Do you need a Monday makeover?
We get makeovers of our faces, our homes, our wardrobes...I think I even saw an ad for a Mama Makeover (not sure how you makeover the most perfect thing ever if I must say so myself!) All of these things to make something that has gotten seemingly drab and boring to us, new and exciting. Why not a Monday makeover? I mean, have you ever heard anyone say, "Thank goodness it's Monday?" instead of Friday...NO! No, we are ever grateful for Fridays. We give it so much love and respect. And who can argue with that? But why can't we use gratitude to makeover Mondays? I mean I'm all in, Mondays need some rebranding and I'm here to help.
What if we go through all the ways we can be Grateful for a Monday? Come on, you can do it. I've got your back...
1. Mondays are a fresh start.
Each week, we get a Monday, a chance to start over, a chance to try again. If that isn't a compassionate day, I don't know what is!
2. Mondays make Fridays sweeter.
Ok, this one may seem roundabout. But think about it. Why would Friday feel so good unless we were so sluggish on a Monday? Next time, you are dragging your ass on a Monday, think about it and actually say it to yourself, "I am grateful for you, you show me how different I will feel at the end of the week."
3. Mondays get us over the hump.
That's right, the anticipation of a new week is harder than the reality. Starting something hard is actually the first step to making it work better.
4. Mondays remind us to be grateful for our work.
Ok, seriously, why do we love the weekend so much and dread Mondays so fiercely? The answer may seem obvious but it is a little warped if you think about it. Why can't we love our work too? It is such a big part of our life so why can't we be grateful for it? And if you really truly detest your job, it is still a way to earn money and support yourself. So we can find gratitude that we are able to do that until we find something that feeds our souls better. And if you are not working outside of the home, you have arguably the most challenging and important work there is. When we can find gratitude for ALL parts of our lives, our lives becomes a whole lot more fun. Why just be waiting every day for one part of your life? That seems silly, now doesn't it?
5. And last but not least, be grateful for Mondays because they are a day.
Yep, that's right, they are a day. Plain and simple. All days are gifts. All moments are ones to relish. Not because they are all fun or need to be. But because they are all here. And if we are just waiting for what is here to pass by, we are missing out on a whole lot of life (1/7 to be exact!). And the more we accept what is in front of us, the smoother it goes...trust me on that one.
So, there you have it. I am on a mission to save this pitiful day of days. So neglected and shunned. Let's all find some gratitude. Let's all have some compassion for Mondays. And maybe, just maybe, Mondays will shine some compassion on us!
Live well (all days),
