Ain't no wheelchair ♿️ gonna stop us...
If you follow me on Instagram,(if not, come on over and say Hi!) you saw my post where I showed you how we spent the day, my son and I. And that he may not be able to walk or stand up, but he can paddleboard with me anyway!
This paddleboard 🌊has given me SO much JOY! One of the best investments I have made. And it was another gorgeous summer day. But when I am with my son, I have to get creative. They haven't invented a paddling wheelchair yet! (Although, what a great idea! 💡)
And even though it was harder to paddle while tugging him, it was such bliss to watch his face, out there in the middle of the lake, just like everyone else.
You see, that paddleboard was a moment of Joy for both of us here, that's the real magic.
And it's the perfect illustration of how I explain Joy.
Does this afternoon negate the suffering he endures or my grief over his condition? No.
Nothing does that completely.
But moments of Joy are my resistance, my fight back against what feels unfair.
Moments of Joy are my resilience to fuel me for the next hard thing.
Moments of Joy are my birthright and they are yours too.
No matter what you're going through right now, no matter how final it feels, you have the opportunity to find a moment of Joy---through movement, nature, gratitude, hope, and on and on.
And every moment you find will fuel you through the next.
Never discount Joy taking up, even a little, space in the day. When she takes up space, you feel her deeply.
Joy is so much more than just the moment you feel it in.
Joy is the way you feel yourself into the next one.
Joy is the way you fight back.
Because fairness is something you're given...
But Joy is something you seize for yourself.
Felt like someone needed to hear that today.
Let me know if that's you.
And may you find moments of Joy today, my friend.
Be well,
Tanmeet
